Today was Save Our Station Day for the City of Goldsboro. The event featured various activities from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on the grounds of historic Union Station, 100 S. Carolina St. in Goldsboro, NC. The Eastern Carolina Rail non-profit organization, led by Gene Merrit and Steve Unger, drew over 150 interested community members, government officials, and key stakeholders to discuss the proposed Raleigh-to-Wilmington Passenger train route via Goldsboro.
The proposed Raleigh-to-Wilmington Passenger train route via Goldsboro has the potential to ignite an unprecedented economic renaissance in southeastern North Carolina. This project holds the promise of bringing substantial growth and opportunity not only to Wilmington but also to numerous commercial entities, towns, and communities along the route.
Moreover, this ambitious initiative has the power to bolster national security and regional access during natural disasters, as it will provide crucial support to the Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area, Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point, and the State Port (Port of Wilmington). Walker REIG proudly stands with Eastern Carolina Rail in their unwavering mission to drive positive change through this project.
